My co-worker and I trued MA-KIN for lunch today. It was crowded, which tells me it's good! I tried the glass noodle dish- Pad Woon Sen and added beef. It was delicious and the beef flavorful and tender. My co-worker had Pad ko prow with chicken and she loved hers too. Service was very friendly and attentive. I'll be back, I'd like to try the sushi next time.

Let's talk about what is now my favorite and go-to sushi spot. I used to go to a place in Clackamas that had similar prices and portions and I truly enjoyed. We stopped going there after prices increased and the service got worse. I had passed this place many times over the years, but never tried it until New Year's Day. My husband and I were craving sushi and they were open and had tables open when we called. This place is fairly small, but you're greeted by a case of sushi and friendly faces. We were seated immediately and impressed by the wide variety of options on the menu. Both craving sushi, we ordered a few rolls, and decided to get a soup to go for the following day's lunch. We ordered the Hamachi Avocado roll, spicy salmon roll, and Red Dragon roll. They've pretty much all become regular orders for us, but we've expanded and haven't tried a single thing we haven't loved. The service is excellent - everyone there is so friendly and I love that they will joke around with you like you're an old friend or a regular even when you've only been there a couple times.

Found this little place completely by accident after stopping for lunch at another restaurant nearby that had a long long wait for food and I just couldn't wait for food. Did a quick yelp search, Ma-Kin popped up and the rest is history. I chatted with several people who were not first-timers, asking them what they were eating and what they recommended, and then settled on the Salmon Poke Bowl. I was not disappointed! Easily hands-down the best poke I've ever had, and easily the most amazing presentation of any poke bowl I've ever seen. The salmon was fresh, the veggies perfect, the rice delicious, the avocado ripe & creamy, the poke sauce to die for. Just my opinion here, folks - it was great! The service was quick, friendly and very helpful when asking about their menu items (so many menu items!). The location includes a parking lot which I very much appreciated.

Ma-Kin Thai and Sushi is a small strip mall restaurant by the 224 office and industrial area. Their refrigerated counter fish display was full; sushi was popular at many tables. I was there for the 1/2 duck with holy basil house specialty. As we know from The King and I, a fictional work inspired by facts, King Mongkut, Rama IV, brought forks to Thailand. So this dish comes with a fork, spoon, and a sharp knife. The Thai people take their royal family very seriously. King Mongkut (1804 - 1868) is revered by Thai small businesses who often display a photograph of him. A friend of mine is part of the royal family though the royal family is very large and multi-branched. The duck is the breast in slices, deboned in a light and tasty broth. The skin is on, you could easily remove it with the knife. The skin is not spiced as you might find with some Chinese roast duck. The broth is slightly sweet, not oily, not salty, and is flavored by black pepper. I did not know about black or white pepper in Thai cooking, but I do now! Sriracha is available at the table. Diced onions and red and green peppers are sautéed in the making of the broth, and the dish includes cabbage, green beans, carrots, and broccoli. The dish is topped with fried basil, though it loses its flavor in doing that and becomes more a texture. The dish feeds two. The rice is on the side with a choice of white, sticky or brown rice. The brown rice was hot and steamy, very fluffy. So I'm adding them to my Brown Rice Collection! The duck came recommended by Gabriel Rucker, it is one of his chef's night off dishes. A slightly lemon ice water is served. They have beer, wine and sake along with other non-alcoholic options. It is popular to eat in or carry out. Parking is plentiful, the meal came out fast, and the staff was excellent.

Very cute little restaurant, tastefully decorated. They offer a fairly wide menu, consisting of Thai, Japanese, and Chinese cuisines. We started with the "Red Dragon" sushi roll, which was beautifully presented. Most importantly, the flavors popped -- the roll consisted of shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, topped with fresh tuna, and served with spicy mayo. So good. For my main course, I opted for the BBQ Chicken with Yakisoba. The chicken had a nice grilled flavor, and it was served with fresh veggies that were cooked just right; all served in a flavorful sauce. We really enjoyed our lunch, and would love to come back for an extended multi-course sushi meal (with sake).

We came here because we wanted something warming and be able to try different foods out. People are very friendly and the atmosphere is really what we were looking for, relaxing and cozy, after a busy holidays. The food was great and definitely the tasty and comforting ones. Crab fried rice was very flavorful with fair amount of ingredients. The wok stire fried taste was very tasty. The curry with medium spicy was just right. It could have more vegetables. Milwaukie roll was creamy and smooth with avocado. It is a great place to sit down with friends and families and focus on the good food.
